Dating Tips for Guys – The Rules.
Its war out there and you need to know the rules of engagement!
No matter if you are out there playing the field, or have just started, or just re entered the dating game, these are some basic rules you need to adhere to. Some of them are pretty basic, but If I don’t cover them all you might just get lazy, and that leads to lonely nights…
1/ Take the time to look your best. If you don’t know what I mean then just check out what your buddies are wearing. If none of them are scoring any dates then check out what the guys that ARE getting dates are wearing. Please please please, if you are 40, don’t copy the young men that are young enough to be your son!
2/ Make sure you are well groomed as well. This just means you have a definite hair style, and that can mean shaved, colored, controlled mess, whatever, but take some advice from your local hairdresser. Also ensure you wear as a minimum a good deodorant, and preferably an aftershave or body cologne as well.
3/ Know who you are and where you are going in life. Hey chicks like to know that their man can provide for them. Exactly what it is you are providing changes big time throughout your life, but no matter where you are chicks DO want to know you can provide for them. This does not mean you have to have your whole life sorted out, but a solid direction and confidence in that direction is essential.
4/ Don’t be a mushroom, stay abreast of current affairs, and in particular current affairs for your demographic. This particularly applies to your first dating attempts and or if you have been off the dating scene for some time. Being aware of current affairs and current social trends will make you a better conversationalist.
5/ Avoid verbal dribble. We all have our passions whether it be sport, the arts, politics, or ancient history. Its fine to let people know what you are into, and you must be yourself, but make sure you don’t go on about it.
6/ Don’t be needy. By this I mean its OK to show interest in a chick, but don’t drool over her and plead with her to go out on a date with you. Treat her as an equal and expect her to treat you the same.
7/ Be courteous and watch your manners. The age of chivalry is not yet dead. There has never been an age yet when women don’t like, appreciate and respect guys that do the simple things like hold a door open for them. Women also appreciate men that have a decent understanding of how to use a knife and fork. So try to avoid the thought that she loves it when you act like a barbarian. Sure it was probably funny once or twice, but I guarantee its not on her top ten list of things her man must have!
8/ You have two ears and one mouth, use them in that proportion. Answer her questions without going into minute details, and end your answer with a question for her, listen and ask more questions. Stay right away from the “yeah I had an experience like that and it was ….Blah….Blah… Blah…”
I know these might seem pretty obvious but ask yourself if you are practicing ALL of them?
